Editor's Verdict:

Federal-records.org isn't a background checking site in the sense that most of the other sites in this cage tory are, in fact the name is arguably a little misleading.

Although the homepage looks reassuringly official - it has a picture of a judge's gavel on it - this site isn't affiliated with any federal agency. Nor does it actually search federal records to help you find the information you need. It doesn't contain any tools, information or advice about how to conduct a background check or an address search. What it does contain is lots and lots of links to other sites, some of them potentially useful or relevant but many of them irrelevant. There is also quite a lot of advertising.

Basically it uses the fact that someone has typed "federal records" or something similar into their search engine as a way of drawing them in. The hope is that they will then look through the links available on this website and maybe click on one that will take them to a site where they will spend some money.

On the plus side the site itself is free to use, but then why would you pay money for a list of links anyway, particularly when you can easily find any number of background searching websites through a regular search engine. This site simply functions as a middle-man or introducer, drumming up business for other sites. From the perspective of the user, who just wants to run a quick background check, it is essentially a superfluous extra stage in the process that interposes itself between them and the information they require.

It is possible that you will eventually find your way to somewhere that might be able to provide the information you need by first visiting Federal-records.org, but why would you bother? You could get the same results much more quickly and efficiently if you visit one of the genuine background checking sites listed in our top ten list of background check website reviews. These sites will actually perform whatever kind of search you need on your behalf and produce the required information in a matter of minutes rather than merely direct you on to another website of their choosing, passing you from one link after another.
