Please do not use this website. They will trick you into paying for a membership that you never want. You think you are paying one price and then you see the actual charge to you credit card. Major rip-off. Isn't that called the bait and switch. They are horrible.

In summary, I would not recommend Intelius to a friend.

Beware: Deceptive Practices
29 March 2013

My 87-year-old father has been being bilked by Intelius AND People Finders for the past eight months. Each company attached TWO subscriptions to his bank account, apparently after he used their services in an attempt to find the phone number of an assisted living facility. Intelius has been taking, monthly, nearly $40.00 out of his account for their two subscriptions and People Finders nearly $50.00 for their two subscriptions. My dad has been in and out of the hospital, so not monitoring his account. That's why I stepped in and had a look. I was truly aghast to see these little tumors growing on his account. Of course he never intended to buy FOUR monthly subscriptions to do background checks on people! And I don't think his inadvertent signing up for these services can be attributed to the soft-headedness of age, either. These companies definitely use deceptive practices, causing people to subscribe to services they don't need or want by clicking on some button without reading the teensy little script at the bottom of the page. Beware!

When I made enough noise, I was able to secure a full refund from Intelius. People Finders gave back five months' worth of... (Read the full review)

Lots of Bait & Switch, enrolled into monthly plan, etc

I Tried out their $.99 phone report which was billed as providing 6 pieces of information including the name of the person (who keeps calling me -- I wanted to know who it was). I got a name, but then it said I had to pay the full $4.95 for the other 5 pieces of information. I paid, effectively $1 more than what the full report should be and low and behold, nothing more than the name appeared.

Calling Intelius customer supports gets you India, and they cannot understand that they are baiting and switching the "one time sale" for $.99 and then again conning you into getting more data, which the site claims to have, only to find out that for $6 I received what the $1 report had to offer: simply a name.

Also, the site said: learn more about the premiere trial.. so I clicked.. and was told nothing about Premiere, but now I was enrolled... for free for 2 days. While on the phone with customer service, I was told that I actually had to cancel in 36 hours, or the credit card system would charge me for a month's service. And that I could do... I had 32 names I needed addresses for. Only 2 had up to date information on the people. A waste of time and money

Horrible Experience

Reviewer: Intelius Scam Victim from San Francisco, CA

They have a secret thing that you don't realize you are buying but you get charged monthly for the service. I cancelled my FREE account and got charged $19.95...yup i was pissed as hell but it's my fault for not doing much research on this site. (AND HOLY GOD does this website have so many bad reviews). Anyway continuing, i got charged didn't worry about it after it said, CANCELLED in big huge obvious letters and i moved on. Recently i than went on to my bank statements online and saw i was charged another freaking $19.95...now i was confused. I had already supposedly CANCELLED their services so why the hell are they charging me? I visit the website and realized it had a tag-along item that charges you a monthly charge of..yup...$19.95. I went on and apparently it "monitors" your credit, bullshit. I called to cancel and they said it was offficially cancelled. And than i went on to the website and cancelled for sure sure. Even got an email and what do i find the next month, i'm charged ANOTHER $19.95. I'm beyond frustrated. Obviously they do. not. speak. english...because i repeated and sent emails. i cancelled through... (Read the full review)
